The technical crew of the senior national team of Nigeria led by Austine Eguavoen are unhappy with the absence of Watford forward Emmanuel Dennis in the camp of the team.

Ahead of the world cup playoff, the camp of the Nigerian team opened on Monday with as many as 13 players reporting on day one ahead of Friday’s first leg tie against Ghana in Kumasi. The team will have their first training session this evening.

Watford duo William Troost Ekong and Oghenekaro Etebo are among the 13 players in camp but their teammate Emmanuel Dennis is yet to join up with the group. A move which hasn’t gone down well with the coaches.

Dennis is back in the team after snubbing the chance to be a part of the Super Eagles team for the Africa Cup of Nations. He has been in and out of the Nigerian team largely due to act of indiscipline in the past when Gernot Rohr was in charge.

” We don’t know where he is and it’s not a nice way to make up for his acts before the Africa Cup of Nations. The deadline is this afternoon before the start of training. We can’t even reach him”, a member of the technical crew told OwnGoalNigeria.com.

” Eguavoen is unhappy with his absence as we have limited time to meet up with them individually, train, travel and perfect tactics for the game. Ekong is here, so too Etebo but no word from Dennis”, he stated.

Pressed on other players like Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey who are also not in camp despite the arrival of their teammate Leon Balogun. He said it’s totally different from the situation of Dennis as they played games over the weekend.

” It’s different. Dennis last played a game on the 13th of March. Which is nine days ago. He is returning to the team and he has a lot of image rebuilding to do. He should have been here. We will wait until this evening to take a decision”, he concluded.
