A row over match bonus is slowly brewing in the camp of the senior national team of Nigeria with the players unhappy with the money on offer by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

After the 2-0 win over Liberia in their first game of the World Cup 2022 qualifiers, the players were told their bonus will be paid in Naira as it is part of the new policy of the football body to pay bonuses for home games in Naira.

The sum of 1 million naira was said to be the agreed amount as match bonus for a home win, an amount which the players strongly rejected as their was no meeting for an agreement to the said amount as originally planned.
